Just to have fun, laugh and learn more about each other.
Great Day Gotchas
The object of Great Day Gotchas is to be as silly and creative as possible. One person will start a sentence by mentioning something that happened (it can be made up) that made it a really great day and the next person needs to complete the sentence to explain why that incident made it such a great day. The sillier or sadder the event is, the more creative the next person must be to find the positive aspects. Mom or Dad can start the game to set the tone. For example:
“Today I spilled soup all over my dress. It made it such a great day because…”
The turn then switches to the person to the right who has to complete the sentence which could go something like this:
“….because the dress you were wearing was kind of a boring color. Now it has a great new colorful look!”
Once he or she completes the first person’s sentence, they make up the start of the next sentence.
Get the idea? The crazier the “good” thing is, the deeper the next person needs to dig into their creative mind to finish the sentence. This process also helps take what could have been an embarrassing or difficult moment that happened during the day and lighten its impact. It teaches our children that we can laugh at our mistakes and misfortunes and not let them get the best of us. Laughter truly is the best medicine!
Here’s one more to get you started:
“Today I tripped in the cafeteria in front of everyone. It was the best day because…”
“…because you landed right in the lap of the cutest girl in the class.”
